Accessibility Statement
Shak Web Group is committed to ensuring that this website is accessible to people with disabilities. We design and build to the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the de facto standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the California Unruh Civil Rights Act.
Our commitment
We believe that everyone — including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, voice input, or any other assistive technology — should be able to access information about Shak Web Group, browse our site, and contact us. We treat accessibility as an ongoing practice, not a one-time fix.
Conformance status
This site aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Conformance means we have made reasonable, good-faith efforts to apply the relevant success criteria. Some legacy content may not yet fully conform; where that is the case, we are working to remediate.
Measures we have taken
- Semantic HTML structure (proper heading hierarchy, landmarks like
<main>,<nav>,<header>,<footer>) - Skip-to-main-content link as the first focusable element on every page
- Color contrast that meets or exceeds the 4.5:1 ratio for body text and 3:1 for large text and UI components
- Alternative text on meaningful images; decorative images marked with empty
alt="" - Form fields labeled with visible
<label>elements oraria-label - Keyboard operability: all interactive elements reachable and operable via keyboard alone, with visible focus indicators
- Responsive layout that reflows down to a 320 px viewport without horizontal scrolling
- Respect for user preferences:
prefers-reduced-motionis honored where animation is used
Known limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content may have accessibility issues. Examples that may apply:
- Some older PDF documents may not yet be fully tagged for screen-reader use; we are working through them on a rolling basis
- Third-party embedded content (e.g., maps, video players, payment widgets) may not meet our standards; we report issues to the providers
If you encounter content that does not work with your assistive technology, please tell us — we will fix it or provide the information in an accessible alternative format.
Compatibility
This site is designed to be compatible with current and recent versions of major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) on desktop, tablet, and mobile, used together with assistive technologies including screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack), browser zoom, and keyboard-only navigation.
